Is an overhaul of NZ's domestic violence laws needed?

Justice Minister Amy Adams is calling for an overhaul of our domestic violence laws and it's the final day to make submissions.

New Zealand has the fifth-highest rate of child abuse and child death in the OECD – and about half of all homicides here are a result of family violence.

The plan includes adding new category of offences to recognise acts of domestic violence and classing emotional abuse as violence.
