Chinese language week may come to an end on Sunday, but one Kiwi man's relationship with Mandarin is only just beginning.

Singer Laurence Larson has been learning Mandarin for two years and is now getting ready to launch his debut album in China.

His dream is to become China's best foreign singer – a big dream, but well on its way.

Larson's music has had more than 25 million views on Chinese social media and he's twice been invited to China to take part in singing shows, despite the fact he has yet to release an album.
