The 2015 MTV Video Music Awards are being held in Los Angeles and are hosted by Miley Cyrus. Newsworthy is live-blogging all the fun.

Check out the 3news.co.nz red carpet fashion gallery.

3:37pm: Well, that's that. Probably the best VMAs I can remember. Kanye, Nicki vs Miley, Justin Bieber crying... wow. So much excitement that even Miley flashing the camera barely warranted a mention. I only included it for the "barely" pun. Thanks for following our live coverage! Goodnight.

3:29pm: Miley is wrapping up the ceremony by performing live and it's definitely the most boring thing that has happened in the whole show. Oh and she's announced her new album is online for free. Can't wait to download all those songs about smoking pot.

3:18pm: Ice Cube does a verbal "Straight Outta" meme before announcing nominees for Best Video.

2:59pm: Pharrell wins the prize for the best artist forced to perform outside; he ends his set screaming "FREEDOM" which may or may not refer to being outdoors.

2:48pm: "I have decided in 2020 to run for President."

2:47pm: This is quite a long speech.

2:44pm: Kanye going in on MTV getting more ratings by replaying the clip of him interrupting Taylor.

2:38pm: "Listen to the kids!"

2:34pm: Taylor Swift on stage to present the Video Vanguard award to Yeezy. Makes a terrible "I'mma let you finish" joke.

2:31pm: Kanye time.

2:24pm: Quite a good performance by Tori Kelly but she's not flying, so...

2:08pm: Justin finishes his performance by flying and then crying. Not sure how to explain this any more. Will have to wait for a Vine.

2:03pm: Justin Bieber performs Where Are Ü Now and it is GREAT. Now What Do You Mean, also great.

1:59pm: Beef update:

1:56pm: Ok thought Macklemore was the worst performance so far, but Demi Lovato and Iggy Azalea is the worst. Needs more autotune and auto-tune-out-Iggy.

1:41pm: The New York Times getting in on the beef! Who cares about the rest of this show!

1:39pm: Nicki's already hit Twitter.

1:26pm: Miley Cyrus introduces Jared Leto who introduces The Weeknd who is now performing Can't Feel My Face.

1:22pm: Hayden would like to draw your attention to this wonderful sentence by the Associated Press: "Nipples barely covered, Cyrus wore tight, over-the-thigh silver boots and shorty loops of baubles open at the sides and a hint of her bare behind."

1:16pm: Miley Cyrus makes some jokes about drugs and then invites Britney Spears to present the award for Best Male Video. Can a video be male? Hmm.

1:09pm: Not really sure what happened there, but it involved Macklemore.

1:05pm: Nicki Minaj ended her performance by bringing out Taylor Swift. This probably shouldn't be very surprising.

12:55pm: Taylor Swift's video for Wildest Dreams is premiering now. It is very sensual and appears to be set in Africa.

12:54pm: "Pop Video, did you say?" Taylor Swift not sure which award she's won.

12:51pm: More important news: the Biebs is in the house.

12:50pm: Nick Jonas dressed up like George Michael and performed with some sexy Daft Punk clones. It was ok.

12:43pm: Mr. West is in the building.

12:41pm: Taylor Swift wins Best Pop Video for Blank Space.

12:36pm: Miley Cyrus interviewed by talking colour bars.

12:29pm: Are these the best outfits of the night?

12:22pm: Fall Out Boy have won the night's first award -- Best Rock Video for Uma Thurman.

12:15pm: The defining #squad of the VMAs so far is the Bad Blood Squad.
