Auckland house prices are continuing to skyrocket, driving up prices in the nearby regions of Northland, Waikato and Bay of Plenty.
It is being called the 'halo effect', and property guru Martin Hawes says it's quite common during property booms.
"Out in the regions [price growth] is going to be less, it has to be less," he told the Paul Henry programme this morning.
"The one thing that Auckland's got going for it and that justifies – if it can be justified – house prices [there] is work – there's good work."
