Clothing retailer Pumpkin Patch used to be a share market high-flyer.

But it faces very tough times.

Yesterday it announced another loss. The $9 million loss was worse than expected.

However the banks announced they will extend the company a lifeline to the end of 2017.

Pumpkin Patch is being challenged by heavy discounting by some of its rivals and increased competition from online competitors.

But it is not alone.

Other local retailers like Kathmandu are also struggling.
