It's the taxi service that isn't a taxi service – Uber. You might have heard of it.

It lets private car owners hire themselves out to drive other people around and it has just given its 1 millionth ride in New Zealand.

The Uber effect is massive and there is no doubt the "Uberfication" of business really is changing the world.

There's now an Uber equivalent for holiday renting – Air BnB. There is an app for groceries – Instacart – and a tailor's version of Uber called zTailors.

It is called the sharing economy.

But all those internet success stories are based overseas, right? Well, not anymore, and Story investigates the Uberfication of New Zealand.
