How long have you been in the same job? If you think it's been too long, spare a thought for John Driscoll.
He has just retired after 65 years in the job as a mechanic – a job he has always loved.
Sixty-five years of fixing, maintaining, repairing and fashioning parts, Mr Driscoll knows motor vehicles inside and out and is something of an institution in Wellington.
He is finally handing over the family business to his son, but insists the building and fixing something at home will not stop.
Story went to meet the mechanic who still speaks of his trade with a twinkle in his eye and tells you what you should be driving.
