How many times have you walked into a supermarket and gone to the wine aisle, only to spend precious drinking time wandering around wondering what to buy?
Our favourite wine expert might have the solution.
Yvonne Lorkin has launched a new service called ‘WineFriend’ which aims to take the hassle and guesswork out of enjoying a great bottle of wine at a reasonable price.
It’s an online survey service that matches you to your individual taste preference and delivers it right to your door.
At the beginning of the subscription process, the customer completes a simple eight-question survey that gives an insight into their thresholds for sweet, sour, bitterness and intensity of flavour, as well as highlighting the varietals or styles they currently enjoy.
The answers to these questions are 'scored' and a profile is created for the customer.
This profile is cross-referenced with the customer's preferred varietals and then matched with the possible wines in the WineFriend database.
Ratings are then used to determine the customer’s favourite and not-so-favourite wines, and come up with suggestions for what they should buy next.
The suppliers have been handpicked by Yvonne, and the service features the kinds of wines that you don’t usually see on the average supermarket shelf.
The wines are predominantly sourced from small, boutique New Zealand producers, alongside a selection of imported wines.
