Careers expert Laurel McLay believes Kiwis don’t know how to sell themselves – and that trait is hard wired into our psyches.
So this is the first of a three-part “HOW TO SELL” series.
Today – why kiwis are not great salesmen, and where to make a start.
WHY CANT KIWIS SELL?
It's actually hard wired into our psyche - Believe it or not the cliche of tall poppy is actually valid.
Humility is a massive value for us as kiwis - think Sir Edmond Hillary - or more relevantly how the all Blacks behaved after their win last week.
It's admirable and amazing but there can be a cost associated with people in business not wanting to celebrate who they are.
We need to make it okay in an elegant way.
