A Givealittle bid aiming to buy an Abel Tasman beach has been successful.
Fundraiser Duane Major confirmed the news this morning.
"We've done it," he said.
Earlier this morning Mr Major told the Paul Henry programme the decision was "imminent" but said there were "some key people we need to speak to and so those i's can't be dotted until they've been spoken to."
The Givealittle effort raised more than $2 million to buy Awaroa beach to ensure it remains public land, with the government promising to top up the bid if the amount raised fell just short.
Mr Major said the process had been long and complicated and he was looking forward to it being over.
"We've had a stop-go affair last night – it's been on it's been off," he said.
