Police are calling on Auckland Council to implement a one-way door policy on the city’s bars following a series of brawls on Saturday night.

Sydney implemented such a policy in 2014 and alcohol related harm dropped by 40 percent.

To talk about the issue NZ medical Association chairman Stephen Child joined Paul Henry at the desk.

Mr Child says action is needed to curb the problem which costs the taxpayer $5.4 billion a year.
