The European Space Agency has revealed plans to build a colony on the moon by 2030.

The ‘Moon Village’ will be made by building a 3D printed honeycomb style base structure, which will be filled in and made solid with material from the surface of the moon.

The ESA plan to make it a ‘mixed use’ facility, which will be used for scientific research as well as mining and possibly tourism.

To discuss the feasibility of the plan AUT’s applied ecology institute director Steve Pointing joined Paul Henry on the show.
