Police commissioner Mike Bush says in some parts of the country it's easier to get methamphetamine than cannabis.
"I've been told that's the case in the Far North, I was told last week it's the case in Motueka. That's a real concern; I'm very concerned about the availability of methamphetamine."
A recent study by Massey University says that 76 percent of drug users could get hold of methamphetamine within an hour.
