Terrorist costumes perpetuate Islamic stereotypes

An Australian discount store has come under fire for selling a ‘terrorist man’ fancy dress costume.

Community groups and consumers have slammed the outfit as ‘offensive’ and demand it be removed.

To talk about the issue and whether it exists in New Zealand, Hazim Arafeh, the president of the Federation of the Islamic Associations joined Paul Henry.

He says costumes like this are unacceptable because they perpetuate the stereotype that Muslims are terrorists.
