But one Hawke's Bay woman is in the process of insuring her taste buds for NZ$1 million.
It would make Yvonne Lorkin the first person in New Zealand to do so and turns out some of us are better than others when it comes to tasting.
The secret to tasting is actually your nose, not your mouth, because most of what we sense when something is tasty, is aroma.
Ms Lorkin is regarded as a master taster and she's the chief tasting officer at wine subscription firm Winefriend.
She's been reviewing wine for more than a decade so Story followed our nose to the vineyard to meet the woman who's turned her taste buds into business.
