130 police spat at since 2014

(Paul Henry)

Is it the preferred weapon of choice amongst offenders these days spitting?

More than 130 police officers have reported being spat at since 2014; half of them sought medical advice.

And, while a punch from an offender could result in a bruise, saliva carries a range of diseases like Hepatitis C and Tuberculosis.

How worried are Police about offender saliva?

And how often are they reaching for a spitting hood, to prevent contracting any unwanted diseases?

The President of the Police Association Greg O'Connor has been spat at and he joined Paul Henry this morning.
