When you hear someone mention jousting on horseback you probably imagine it as a medieval pastime.
But believe it or not, it’s a sport that has been growing in popularity in New Zealand and one particular family have been riding their way to the top.
Salem and Sky Notter are brother and sister who have been part of the Clevedon family who have participated in the sport for three generations.
While the sport only has 250 competitors in New Zealand, Salem and Sky have been national champions for their age group and Sky for the team and pair categories.
“It’s such an exciting sport to do and once you’re hooked, you’re hooked,” says mum Tanja whose a three-time veteran champion herself.
Story went to meet the family who spend their Sunday’s doing something a bit different to most.
