NZers 'soft target' for cyber crime

Increasingly New Zealanders are being held ransom by cyber criminals; we're a soft target.

And our laid-back, 'she'll be right' attitude isn't helping us stay safe online.

Last year, there were 108 attacks from 'ransomware', which is basically when malicious software blocks access to your files until money is handed over.

Worldwide, ransomware clocked up $200 billion worth of damage in the last 12 months.

So how do you stay safe online?
