Sydney siege revelations

A senior police officer has taken the blame for the deaths of three people in the 2014 Sydney Siege.

The commander ordered police to storm the Lindt Cafe during the final hours of the siege and says he accepts blame for the deaths of hostages Tori Johnson and Katrina Dawson, as well as gunman Man Haron Monis.

"Three people lost their lives because of me, my decision, I can't change that," he told the inquest.

A Sydney school has banned clapping

A  Sydney primary school has banned clapping and introduced “silent cheering”, “pulling excited faces” and “punching the air” to respect students who are “sensitive to noise”.

Elanora Heights Public School now only allows its pupils “to conduct a silent cheer” when prompted by teachers and says the practice “reduces fidgeting”.
