Is the Reserve Bank about to unveil new restrictions on property loans?
Deputy Governor Grant Spencer will this afternoon give a speech in which he is expected to talk about the Bank's plans for further lending restrictions.
The ideas could include:
Debt to income limits are also a possibility, but would require a change to the Reserve Bank's policy tools
If the housing market were to cool it would give the Reserve Bank more room to cut rates. The RBNZ would like to lower rates to bring the dollar down and give exporters a helping hand.
