Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull said he's going to call Kevin Rudd to let him know whether the government would back his bid to become UN Secretary-General.
His nomination was discussed in a cabinet meeting last night.
However, our Prime Minister John Key says Helen Clark is the stronger candidate of the two, and Rudd's bid "won't change a lot".
Ms Clark has the New Zealand Government's backing, but it's believed she's lost some momentum from the first straw poll.
