Two police shootings this week

Two police shootings in one week have renewed calls to limit New Zealand police access to firearms.

Police killed a man in Hamilton during a drug raid on Tuesday. They also shot an armed man, who remains in a serious condition, in Rotorua on Thursday.

The latest figures released under the Official Information Act show police have shot 22 people in the last decade - nine of them fatally.

Acting Police Commissioner Mike Clement and former Senior Detective and hostage negotiator Lance Burdett joined Mark Sainsbury this morning, filling in for Paul Henry.
