Lance Burdett worked for the police force for 22 years -- he was a specialist negotiator, and has been involved in some rather hairy moments and has written a book about his time as a cop.
He was working during the 2009 Napier siege and was in charge of communications with gunman Jan Molenaar.
Mr Burdett has now written a book about his time in the force called Behind the Tape, and joined Paul Henry to talk about it this morning.
