It is understood Helen Clark is considering whether or not to withdraw from the contest to become the next UN Secretary General.
This comes after a disappointing result in a second informal ballot.
The latest straw poll has her going in the wrong direction, slipping from sixth to seventh place out of eleven candidates vying for the job of Secretary General.
Ms Clark has already tweeted about her disappointment and hinted at pulling out of the race.
Otago University International relations expert Robert Patman spoke to Paul Henry this morning.
Prime Minister John Key also spoke to Paul about Helen Clark's bid, as well as David Bain's pay out and his birthday.
