Mind-controlled technology comes to New Zealand: Full interview

When BB-8 first rolled onto our screens in Star Wars, such technology seemed light years away.

Now it seems it's reality.

Not only can you can hold him in the palm of your hand but you control him with your mind.

It's as Jedi as it sounds and it's all thanks to creator Joshua Carr.

He's been brought over to New Zealand by IBM, which launches its new headquarters this week in Auckland's Wynyard Quarter.

Carr has managed to programme headset technology, known as Emotiv Insight, to "read" brainwaves and translate them into motion.
