Earth's sixth mass extinction more severe than perceived

Over the last half-billion years, scientists say there have been five mass extinction events on Earth in which a wide variety of species suddenly died off.

Now scientists who track species believe a sixth mass extinction is unfolding.

Auckland University Associate Professor of Conservation Biology Jacqueline Beggs spoke to Eric Young.
