Outrage over Colin Kaepernick kicks off #BoycottNike

Americans' are outraged after Nike chose Colin Kaepernick, the first NFL player to kneel during the national anthem as a protest against racism, as one of the faces of their 30th anniversary of their 'Just Do It' campaign.

The former NFL quarterback has posted a black and white headshot of himself on Twitter and Instagram along with the quote, "Believe in something. Even if it means sacrificing everything."

Kaepernick first came to the world's attention in 2016 when he kneeled during the national anthem to protest against racism and police brutality.

At the time US President Donald Trump condemned Kaepernick's actions and said he was disrespecting his flag and his country.

Twitter users have been posting videos of themselves burning and binning their Nike sports gear in anger.

However Kaepernick supporters have fought back saying the Republicans need to reprioritise.
