The fine for getting caught using a cellphone in New Zealand is $80.

Overseas, drivers in the UK caught sending a single text can lose their licence and at least a $400 fine.

Fines and punishment vary across states in Australia, from AU$330 in New South Wales to AU$528 in Western Australia.
