Todd Muller and Louisa Wall on New Zealand's alcohol culture

At rugby games, parties, and at almost any social gathering you could think of, New Zealanders drink alcohol.

In the 12 months leading to March, alcohol sales reached $1.6 billion - that's a $200 million increase from last year.

The New Zealand Drug Foundation says alcohol causes more harm in this country than illegal drugs methamphetamine, marijuana, cocaine, ecstasy, acid and heroin combined.

A small group of select MPs and alcohol representatives met in Parliament last night to discuss the role of alcohol in the New Zealand culture.

National MP of Bay of Plenty Todd Muller and Labour MP for Manurewa Louisa Wall spoke to The AM Show about it.
