School breakfast programme serves 30 millionth meal

Kickstart Breakfast has served its 30 millionth meal in 10 years.

The programme is a joint initiative with Fonterra, Sanitarium and the Ministry of Social Development, and has been running since 2009.

More than 30,000 children participate in the programme each week, with more than 135,000 meals served.

The AM Show reporter Aziz Al Sa'afin and Olympian Tom Walsh marked the event with a special breakfast at Shirley Primary School in Christchurch.
