Five Returned and Services' Associations (RSAs) have cancelled their Anzac Day services due to security concerns, while Auckland Council has reduced its Anzac Day event lineup by more than two-thirds.
There will be just 26 commemorative events across the city on April 25, down from last year's 84.
Heightened security environment since the Christchurch terror attack has led New Zealand Police to recommend Auckland events be consolidated to ensure a substantial police presence at each one.
