In the space of two weeks NZ police have had two incidents where officers have made mistakes which have seen offenders escape.
Police have admitted they did not follow best practice after three inmates overpowered a guard and escaped from Levin court. Police say only two officers were guarding four inmates, which is not enough. The offenders are still on the run
There was another incident which saw a long hunt for an offender who rammed a police car before stealing a patrol car and two guns.
