Last year, 22 women lost their lives to family violence - New Zealand's highest rate in six years.
Women's Refuge has launched its latest campaign - 'Gift a Safe Night' - which aims to help women in abusive relationships book a safe night away for those who need to escape. It's raised more than $50,000.
Actor and Kiwi great Miranda Harcourt spoke to The AM Show about the campaign.
