The adult minimum wage will increase $1.20 from $17.70 to $18.90 per hour today, according to Employment NZ.
The minimum wage increase was announced by the Government in December 2019 to increase on 1 April 2020.
Employment NZ's website acknowledges the wage increase is occurring during the COVID-19 Level 4 Lockdown and understand some businesses may have challenges updating their payroll systems, or are facing financial difficulties.
