Question of the Day: Should men wear ties to work?

The Speaker of the House was left tongue-tied in Parliament yesterday after a request from Green Party Co-Leader James Shaw.

"If you are looking at further reforms I wonder if we could take a look at the rule that requires gentlemen to wear ties," Shaw asked speaker Trevor Mallard.

Former National Leader Simon Bridges is keen to keep the accessory in rotation tweeting: "It may not be the biggest issue the world faces but men who come to Parliament should wear ties.

"It's not a bar, or a club, or a business, it's a national Parliament."
