Political panel responds to ACT and Greens' call to ditch 'Leader of the Opposition' title

Newshub Nation's political panel was unimpressed with ACT and the Green Party's call to get rid of the 'Leader of the Opposition' title, with Newshub Political Editor Jenna Lynch asking "who cares?"

She joined political commentator Josie Pagani and former National MP Agnes Loheni on Newshub Nation on Saturday morning to discuss the week in politics.

The panel was impressed with how James Shaw's is presenting himself and thinks he has responded well to the challenges to his leadership he experienced earlier this year by catering to the activist faction within the Green Party.

The Hamilton West byelection is going to be an uphill battle for Labour after a recent poll revealed National is leading by close to 10 points, and Lynch observed that Dr Gaurav Sharma will certainly make Labour's job even harder.

The panel has been impressed by National's strong social media presence, but said that they also need substantial policy to back it up. Pagani said the lack of policy from National makes it seems they are "waiting for Labour to lose".
