New Zealand Football (NZF) has confirmed an appeal has been filed to the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) over their disqualification from the Pacific Games.

The Oly Whites were disqualified from the competition after Deklan Wynne was deemed ineligible to play for New Zealand.

NZF president Deryck Shaw says the grounds for appeal are in regard to the processes undertaken by the OFC, as well as which rules had been breached.

He also denied New Zealand Football was the subject of an investigation by the FIFA Ethics Committee.

CEO Andy Martin says they are now looking into resolving the issues they have with player eligibility.

"We are taking a conservative view, and have obtained information from FIFA about the process to apply for exemptions for the small number of players that are potentially affected and we are working with the players concerned to gather the necessary information," he says.

Reviews are now underway after members of the Men's Under-17 squad became the subject of a complaint received by OFC earlier in the week.

"We intend to have this review and work programme complete in the next two weeks and our focus remains on giving our full support to our players, their families and our coaching and management teams during what has been a distressing time for them," he says.
