Four Chelsea fans who refused to allow a black man on the Paris Metro have received a five year ban from attending football matches.

Richard Barklie, Joshua Parsons and William Simpson were banned for five years at Stratford Magistrates' Court, while Jordan Munday was banned for three years.

They were told they could not attend major football matches in England or abroad.

Chelsea Football Club have also banned the fans from attending any of their matches for life.

Police Chief Superintendent Colin Morgan said in a statement: "Violence and racism have no place in football and we will continue to put offenders before the courts as part of our efforts to make football a safer environment for everyone."

Video footage showed Frenchman Souleymane Sylla pushed off a train amid chants from Chelsea fans of "we're racist and that's the way we like it".

The French commuter previously said the whole episode was "humiliating", but that he didn't understand what the fans were singing since he didn't speak English.
