There are concerns for the mental health of Kiwis and Roosters NRL centre Shaun Kenny-Dowall, who's reportedly been admitted to hospital.
The 27-year-old is due in a Sydney court today on ten domestic violence charges, however The Daily Telegraph reports that Kenny-Dowall went to hospital on Tuesday.
The decision was reportedly a joint agreement from his family and the Roosters, with coach Trent Robinson concerned for Kenny-Dowall's well-being.
"I've had many chats with Shaun about this. It's a tough period for him at the moment. He's in a bit of a dark place with where things are at," Robinson told Fox Sports.
"There's been a lot of opinion, and naturally people want to comment on this.
"There's a public face to something that we don't like in society, but there's going to come a time and place for judging that and that's not right now.
"I know we want to immediately, but he needs his time.
"There has been one side told of this story and there's going to be another and that's where we just need some time."
Kenny-Dowall didn't play against the Warriors last weekend and Roosters co-captain Jake Friend said he should be in no rush to return.
"We haven't stood him down, it's simply because he's not right to play," Friend said.
"Once he is I'm sure he'll be straight back in our team."
Brendan Elliot is set to retain his place on Friday night for the Roosters against the Tigers.
