The lineout drive isn't the only concern for the All Blacks as they prepare for this weekend's Test against the Springboks in Johannesburg.
Number eight Kieran Read's also wary of fullback Willie Le Roux and the talented back three that can hit a swift counter-attack.
"I think the [Springboks] will come at us up front as they have a pretty strong scrum and lineout," Read said.
"But they will probably look to counter-attack us. Last year when we played in this fixture their boys out back played really well and made a lot of breaks. I'm sure they will try and continue that."
The All Blacks are expected to rotate their outside backs, with front liners Ben Smith and Julian Savea set to play their first Test of the year.
The game will kick off at 6am (NZT) on Sunday July 26.
