New Zealand's connection with Oklahoma basketball is now stronger than just Steven Adams.
Auckland teenager Matt Freeman is going to play for the highly ranked University of Oklahoma Sooners.
Adams is already lending the 17-year-old power forward a hand.
Freeman has dreamt of playing American college basketball since he was 10.
"It's weird to think that I was looking at this as a dream and now it's becoming a reality," he says.
Now the Breakers Academy player has been snapped up by Oklahoma for his rare skill set.
"Fairly unique, especially in this part of the world, for somebody at 6'8" to be able to play like a guard, and that's testament to the amount of work Matt has put in," says Breakers Academy coach Judd Flavell.
