Bournemouth took out a 7-goal thriller at West Ham to clinch their first win of the season, in a game that saw defender Carl Jenkinson get sent off and young Cherries striker Callum Wilson score a hat-trick.

Wilson put Bournemouth 2-0 ahead after 28 minutes with two first-time strikes, before Mark Noble slotted a penalty and Cheikhou Kouyate finished from close range to level the score.

Marc Pugh put the Cherries back in front with a wonderful curling finish from just inside the box, and Wilson secured his hat-trick when Carl Jenkinson fouled the sprightly Max Gradel in the penalty area – earning himself a red card in the process.

A goal in the 82nd minute from Modibo Maiga ensured the last ten minutes were tense for Bournemouth, but West Ham couldn't find a way through in front of the Upton Park faithful.

In the other games, Manchester United and Newcastle played out a drab 0-0 draw at Old Trafford, while Sunderland recorded their first point of the season in a home game against Swansea City.

Bafetimbi Gomis put Swansea in front with 30 seconds left in the first half with a coolly-taken finish from a Kyle Naughton through-ball, but Jermaine Defoe's clinical shot on the hour saw the points shared at the Stadium of Light.

Meanwhile Crystal Palace defeated Aston Villa 2-1 in a game that only came to life in the final 20 minutes – Bakary Sako scoring late on at Selhurst Park to clinch the win after a Souare own goal.

Tottenham continued their disappointing start to the season as they failed once again to register a win at Leicester, with rising star Riyad Mahrez replying with a fierce strike just 90 seconds after Spurs' Dele Alli opened the scoring in the 81st minute.

Norwich and Stoke also drew, marquee-signing Xherdan Shaqiri providing the assist for Mame Biram Diouf to head in – but Norwich hit back through Russell Martin and saw Stoke goalkeeper Jack Butland make some extraordinary saves.

Manchester City play Everton tonight, while Chelsea will be hoping to bounce back quickly after their 3-0 defeat at Etihad Stadium last gameweek.

Watford and Southampton round out tonight's fixtures before Arsenal and Liverpool play in a blockbuster at the Emirates Stadium.
