Joseph Parker is not the only Kiwi boxer gaining attention in the heavyweight division, with south Aucklander Hemi Ahio being handpicked by former world champion Danny Green to fight on his undercard in Melbourne next week.
"He reminds me of a real young Mike Tyson," says Green. "He can throw them, he can take them. He's raw and he's powerful and he's brutal to watch."
Tyson's peek-a-boo style works for Ahio who, at 183cm, is also short for a heavyweight. He has to get inside quickly to overcome his lack of reach.
Lacking an amateur background is another challenge, although he does bring plenty of life experience.
