Kiwi golfer Ryan Fox says the lure of a place on the European Tour will keep him on the continent for a little longer, following his win at the Le Vaudreuil Golf Challenge tournament in France.
Fox's final round two-over 71 was enough for a one shot victory, finishing -14 to complete a wire-to-wire win and his first title in Europe.
"Over the moon. It's been a great couple of weeks," said Fox.
"It's been a great trip to Europe so far and beyond all expectations at the moment, still really sinking in."
The tournament is part of the European Tour's second tier Challenger Tour and as well as earning him a winner's cheque of €32,000 (NZ$53,400) Fox is now up to eighth on the Tour's order of merit.
The top fifteen at the end of the year earn a place on the full European Tour, and after an impressive major debut at the Open Championship last week, the win in France has earned Fox a start at the Madiera Island Open tournament in Portugal next week and the chance to rise further up the standings.
"It's an opportunity I can't really miss so one more week in Europe then home for a couple of weeks break and then back again with a full schedule here now."
The ultimate goal for the 28-year-old is a place on the European Tour.
Remarkably it was a change in management that led Fox to Europe.
"I've played Aussie (Australian Tour) and OneAsia last few years and been to US Q School. When I came over here I signed with ISM, a management company over here earlier in the year and they said 'come over and give Europe a try.'
"Sort of wish I'd done it sooner. It's been an awesome experience and had three top 10s out of four weeks on the Challenge Tour and managed to play in an Open Championship.
"It's been a great trip and certainly been enjoying Europe."
