All Blacks find support from expats in London

Expat fans in London have opened their official base to show the All Blacks how much support they'll have away from home.

But the All Blacks have a message for fans back in New Zealand. They say messages from home are what inspire them most.

The team had their final day of relaxation before training begins.

For Kiwis living in London, there are several fan zones dedicated especially to the All Blacks.

Most of the fans are Kiwis who missed out on the World Cup last time because they were in London, so they're lapping it up this time around.

"There's no doubting we are in enemy territory, so the little bit of support we get is nice," says All Blacks centre Conrad Smith.

Smith says the team felt the love at home in 2011 and it spurred them on, so they'll be looking to soak in the messages from home again this time.

"We certainly don't in any way try and shut ourselves off from it," says Smith. "We love it. It's what inspires us and what a lot of us play the game for, and so to see – however it is conveyed to the team – to see all the support that we get, obviously from back home and also the Kiwi supporters that we have here, is something we do cherish and we are all well aware of."

There are also attempts to get English fans on the All Blacks' social media bandwagon with an Air New Zealand campaign to reward fans who upload pictures under #squad. They win a trip to New Zealand for 10 friends, so winners have to be Kiwi-friendly.

"I think people are having a bit of fun, but really showing their support of the team and also their enthusiasm for rugby," says Air NZ UK general manager Kathryn Robertson.

The All Blacks transfer hotels and get into the serious stuff tomorrow.
