Christen Me begins New Zealand Cup build-up

Glamour pacer Christen Me will have his first start of the new season in Christchurch tonight as he starts his build-up to the New Zealand Cup.

For his connections, it is a return home after experiencing a very different kind of racing 19,000km away.

As New Zealand's best driver, and the current world champion, Dexter Dunn knows a lot about racing, but experiencing harness racing in Ireland was something else.

He was invited to Dublin along with well-known trainer Cran Dalgety and had four winners over the one weekend.

Now back home, the focus is on reigning horse of the year Christen Me.

The big target is the New Zealand Cup in November. So far harness racing's biggest prize has eluded the horse, Dunn, and Dalgety.

Christen Me opens his season at Addington tonight.
