Fiji Sevens coach Ben Ryan is confident of having 15-a-side star Nemani Nadolo on board for next year's Rio Olympics.
Nadolo is playing against England on Saturday morning's (NZT) Rugby World Cup opener against England at Twickenham, and Ryan's working behind the scenes to get him in his side.
Ryan's had informal talks with Crusaders and Fiji assistant coach Tabai Matson to get Nadolo released, and would like to get him to play in the third World Series tournament in the capital in January.
"What we're trying to hopefully work out is the opportunity for [Nadolo] to play in a tournament, maybe Wellington, or something that fits in with the Crusaders calendar," said Ryan.
"We take it from there, really. He's got to get into the side on form and he's got to get into the Olympic training squad and fight of some of the other challenges from some very fine rugby players."
Ryan is not only impressed with Nadolo's stature, but also the character of the winger.
"Most people would agree with me, he's certainly someone of great interest to us because we think he has a point of difference.
"You start with his size and speed, but he's also a good footballer, intelligent, and I think he's the sort of bloke that when he puts his mind to something he achieves it.
"I want to do as much as I can to allow him the opportunity to see if he can make the grade."
Ryan added that Nadolo is "very keen" to pursuit a Rio spot, but said he will step up the recruiting effort after the Rugby World Cup.
