PSV came from behind to beat Manchester United 2-1 in a match that will be overshadowed by a horrific injury to Luke Shaw.

The Champions League group stage tie was stopped for nine minutes while the Man United defender was treated for a serious leg injury after landing awkwardly in a tackle.

Memphis Depay, who joined United from PSV in the transfer window, scored the opening goal with an individual piece of brilliance.

The quick-footed Depay beat two defenders before slotting the ball through the legs of goalkeeper Jeroen Zoet.

United continued to make chances, but it was PSV who managed to find a goal before halftime when Hector Moreno's header took a wicked deflection off United's Daley Blind.

A swift counter attack gave PSV the lead when Luciano Narsingh headed in a Maxime Lestienne cross.
