Video: Referee hit by two American footballers during game

Referee hit

Two high school American football players are being investigated after appearing to target a referee during a game.

The students from John Jay High School violently ran into the referee during the team's 15-9 loss to Marble Falls, prompting an investigation from The Northside Independent School District in San Antonio.

One Jay defensive back trucked the referee in the back, flooring him in a hit so hard it knocked his hat off.

His teammate then dove helmet first into the helpless referee on the ground.

Both players were ejected from the game.

Video of the incident was posted on YouTube and a local reporter tweeted that the two had been kicked off the team.

The two may yet face further punishment for their sickening hits.
