England's tactics against Wales are coming under fire from the local media as the host nations' World Cup hopes dangle by a thread.

RadioLIVE reporter John Day is in Cardiff where the Welsh Dragons slayed the English and said media from both nations have understandably different views.

Wales are being lauded as heroes, while English newspapers are questioning coach Stuart Lancaster's selections and game plan.

Lancaster gambled on his midfield selection with Sam Burgess coming in, who the media are having a real go at according to Day.

"It's mainly the tactics that are being zeroed in on, [England] went for a lineout, they tried to go for the win instead of kicking the penalty to take the draw," said Day.

"So that's the main focus, Chris Robshaw's captaincy."
